Event agenda subject to change. Broadleaf Weed Control in Winter Wheat – We will discuss postemergence herbicide options for broadleaf weed control in winter wheat, with a focus on mayweed chamomile control. Herbicide resistance is becoming an increasing issue in mayweed chamomile. We will look at alternate herbicide options for its control. Italian Ryegrass Control in Spring Canola – Italian ryegrass continues to be the major grass weed problem in the Palouse. Many growers have inserted Roundup Ready spring canola into their crop rotations to try and control Italian ryegrass. Relying solely on glyphosate for Italian ryegrass control in spring canola increases the risk for selecting glyphosate-resistant Italian ryegrass populations. We will discuss alternatives to a glyphosate only control strategy in spring canola. Italian Ryegrass Control in Spring Pulses and Winter Pea – Italian ryegrass continues to be the major grass weed problem in the Palouse. We will discuss various herbicide treatment options in spring pulses and winter pea. Harvest Weed Seed Control – Harvest weed seed control can play an important role in an integrated weed management plan. We will discuss the use of impact mill systems and chaff lining for the control of Italian ryegrass in the Palouse. Persons with disabilities who require alternative means for communication or program information or reasonable accommodation need to contact us at small.grains@wsu.edu at least two weeks prior to the event.
