Oilseeds Workshops Coming Soon!

Field of canola.

Anyone driving through Eastern Washington over the last few years will have noticed an increase in the patchwork of bright yellow fields dotting the agricultural landscape. Canola acreage has been on the rise in the region over the last several years. Many factors including low commodity prices and disease pressure are driving the increased acreage. While canola acreage is on the rise, many factors still make canola production challenging. Agricultural scientists from Washington, Oregon, and Idaho are working to improve canola production in the region.

If you are interested in learning more about advances in canola production, come to the Washington Oilseed Cropping Systems (WOCS) annual winter workshops. The first workshop will be held on January 28th in Wilbur, WA at the Wilbur Community Center; the second workshop will be on January 30th in Clarkston, WA at the Quality Inn and Suites. A variety of topics including integrated pest management, fertility, oilseed markets, and more will be discussed at the upcoming meetings.
